Optical power loss. Calculation of the optical line budget.

Wavelength multiplexing (WDM) – CWDM and DWDM.

Passive optical networks (PON) – types, topology, and a principle of operation.

Designing of passive optical network and active equipment installation.

Connecting optical fiber.

Fiber optic splicing.

Measuring optical power and optical line loss.

Working with an optical reflectometer – the principle of operation, operating modes, basic settings, events analysis, and anomalies.
II. PRACTICAL PART (11 lessons)

Arc fusion splicers – a principle of operation and basic settings.

Splicer and cleaver maintenance. Common problems.

Installation of an optical cable into an optical splice closure and wall-mountable box / ODF.

Implementation of cable mid-span access.

Arranging optical fibers.

Measurement of optical line parameters with OTDR, events analysis.
