 II. HANDS-ON EXERCISE (17 lessons)

  • Arc fusion splicers – a principle of operation and basic settings.
  • Splicer and cleaver maintenance. Common problems and repairing.
  • Cable preparation for installation.
  • Installation of an optical cable into an optical splice closure, ODF, and wall-mountable box.
  • Implementation of cable mid-span access.
  • Arranging optical fibers in a splice tray.
  • Measuring link loss with OLS and OPM.
  • Measuring of optical line parameters with OTDR, events analysis.
